Notice in accordance with Articles 13 and 14 of the EU Regulation 2016/679
In accordance with Articles 13 and 14 of the EU Regulation 2016/679 specifying provisions regarding data protection, we inform you that the personal data that you have voluntarily provided to the University of Trieste will be processed in such a way as to guarantee their security and confidentiality, as indicated in the above mentioned regulation.
Purpose and means of data processing
Data from browsing
During normal operation, the IT systems and the software procedures ensuring the correct functioning of the website and the online services provided acquire some personal data. The transmission of these data is implicit when using Internet communication protocols, or is utilised to improve the quality of the service offered. The information is not collected in order to be associated to identified users, but could, by its very nature, allow the identification of users through processing and association. This data category includes IP addresses or the domain names of the computers employed by users to connect to the site, the Uniform Resource Identifiers (URI) of the the resources requested, the time of the request, the method used to send the request to the server, the size of the file returned, the numerical code indicating the server response (success, error, etc.) and other parameters regarding the operating system and the users computing environment. The data are periodically cancelled and are used:
- to collect anonymous statistical information (as data are aggregated) on the use of the site and the services provided in order to verify correct operation;
- to solve operational problems, also through identifying access by users requesting this information.
The data could be used to ascertain responsibility in cases of possible cyber-crime to the detriment of the site.
Cookies
Website pages contain text, images, and other multimedia information, but may also include ‘instructions’ that are executed automatically by the user’s browser. Data use and storage
The data collected are processed exclusively for statistical analyses with the sole aim of improving the services offered and for the minimum period necessary to provide the service.
Disclosure and transfer of data
The data collected will not be disclosed or transferred to third parties. In performing their respective functions and in accordance with instructions received, Data Controllers or Data Protection Officers may access the data only to undertake the specific uses indicated in the present notice.
Personal data collected by the University are managed and stored on servers located within the University and/or on the external servers of suppliers providing specific services necessary for technical and administrative management. Exclusively for the purposes of the service requested, these suppliers have knowledge of users personal data and are duly nominated by the Data Controller in accordance with article 28 of the Regulation.
Rights of Data Subjects
Data subjects, i.e. individuals to whom the personal data refers, have the right, at any to time, to demand confirmation or otherwise of the data, its content and its origin.
Furthermore, data subjects also enjoy the rights specified in sections 2, 3 and 4 of Chapter III of the European Regulation 2016/679 (e.g. to request that the Data Controller provide access to and rectification or erasure of personal data; to restrict processing concerning the data subject; to object to processing; and to request data portability).
Subjects also have the right to:
- revoke consent at any time, without, however, prejudicing the lawfulness of the processing based on consent granted prior to the revocation;
- lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
